SocketLabs alternatives for a sender that outgrew, or never needed, the entry plan
SocketLabs sells two published plans and one that is quoted. Core is $39.95 a month for 40,000 emails after a free first month, Pro is $89.95 for 100,000 emails with a dedicated IP, and Enterprise, for 1M+ emails a month, is "Contact Us". The first plan is where small senders stumble: there is nothing cheaper than $39.95, no permanent free plan, and no dedicated IP until $89.95. The pricing page also carries a banner saying SocketLabs is joining Infobip, which is a reason to ask about future pricing and support before you sign anything long. SparkPost, Amazon SES, Mailgun, SMTP2GO, Mailtrap and Resend are the replacements priced below.

What the three SocketLabs plans include
| Plan | Price | Included emails | Over the allowance | Event webhooks | History |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Core | $0 first month, then $39.95 | 40,000 | $1.30 per 1,000 | 1 | 10 days insight, 90 days performance |
| Pro 100k | $89.95 | 100,000 | $1.10 per 1,000 | 5 | 30 days insight, 180 days performance |
| Enterprise | Quoted | 1M+ | Negotiated | Custom | Not listed |
Pro adds a dedicated IP address, StreamScorePro and priority support channels. The compare-features table shows subaccount management, IP pool management, multiple dedicated IP addresses and multi-zone deployment as Enterprise-only. Automated IP warm-up and suppression list management show as included on all three plans, and the feature tables also list ISP feedback loops and SOC II compliance. The trial gives you the Core plan for a month, or a set amount of credits, with no card required, and sending stops when it ends unless you upgrade.
The real reasons to look elsewhere
There is no small plan
A product sending 8,000 emails a month pays $39.95 for 40,000 it does not use, about $5 per thousand. Postmark Basic, Mailgun Basic and SMTP2GO Starter are $15 for 10,000; SparkPost's Startup plan is $15 for a 50K allowance. The free tiers differ as well: SparkPost 1,000 emails a month, Resend 3,000, Mailtrap 4,000, against SocketLabs' one-month trial.
The dedicated IP is a $50 step
Core to Pro costs $50 more and raises the allowance by 60,000 emails, but if you only wanted the dedicated IP, you also pay for volume. SMTP2GO's Professional plan is $75 for 100,000 and includes one; SparkPost Growth is $80 for 100K plus $24.95 a month for each dedicated IP; Mailtrap Business is $85 for 100,000.
One webhook endpoint on Core
Core lists a single event webhook, Pro five. A system that fans delivery events out to billing, support and analytics will hit that limit on the cheapest plan. SparkPost lists one webhook endpoint on Startup and ten on Growth, so check the number before assuming a replacement is looser.
The ownership change
The pricing page header reads "SocketLabs is joining Infobip", and the logo is marked as an Infobip company. The page does not say what changes for plans, support or billing. That is not evidence of anything going wrong, but it is a fair reason to ask for current terms in writing, especially for annual or Enterprise contracts.
Enterprise is a quote
Above 1M emails a month there is no published price. SES and SparkPost both publish rates in that range, so you can arrive at a negotiation with a reference number.
Monthly cost at 10,000, 40,000, 100,000 and 250,000 emails
| Provider | 10,000 | 40,000 | 100,000 | 250,000 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SocketLabs | $39.95 | $39.95 | $89.95 | $254.95 |
| SparkPost | $15 | $15 | $30 | $175 (Growth) |
| Amazon SES | $1.60 | $6.40 | $16 | $40 |
| Mailtrap | $15 | $20 | $30 | $200 (Business) |
| Mailgun | $15 | $35 | $90 | $255 |
| SMTP2GO | $15 | $51 | $75 | $202.50 |
| Resend | $20 | $20 | $90 | $225 |
SocketLabs at 250,000 is Pro's $89.95 plus 150 × $1.10, which is $254.95. SparkPost's figures are the 50K and 100K steps on Startup and the 250K step on Growth. Mailgun's 40,000 is Foundation's $35 for 50,000, since Basic plus overage would be $69, and its 250,000 is a floor built from Scale's lowest listed overage rate. SMTP2GO's 40,000 is Starter's $15 plus 30 × $1.20 and its 250,000 is Professional's $75 plus 150 × $0.85. At 100,000 emails SocketLabs Pro ($89.95) is within a nickel of Mailgun Scale and Resend Scale at $90, above SMTP2GO, and about three times SparkPost or Mailtrap.
The one place SocketLabs is level with its competitors is at 250,000 emails, and only against Mailgun. Its case rests on StreamScore reputation scoring, the longer 90 to 180 day performance history and Spotlight analytics, not on cost.
Which alternative suits which reason for leaving
SparkPost is the closest like-for-like: it targets senders who care about delivery analytics at scale, lists 30-day retention on every plan and its Startup plan costs $15 for 50K. The SparkPost alternatives page explains where it falls short. Amazon SES is the cheapest at every volume and leaves the dashboards to you; its Essentials, Pro and Enterprise plans are explained on the SES pricing page.
Mailgun is the replacement if you need inbound routing and several domains, with the five-day or 30-day log windows of Foundation and Scale. SMTP2GO keeps the SMTP-first feel, with subaccount management on Starter, which SocketLabs reserves for Enterprise; see SMTP2GO pricing. Mailtrap and Resend are for teams that want lower prices and a lighter product, with shorter history.
What moving off SocketLabs involves
Injection endpoint and credentials
SocketLabs lists an SMTP API, an HTTP Injection API and its own API. Whichever your application uses, the endpoint, authentication scheme and payload shape change. Start with SMTP if you are on SMTP today; the others on this page all offer an SMTP route, and you can adopt their HTTP APIs later.
Reputation tooling you will lose
StreamScore, StreamMonitor and Spotlight are SocketLabs products, so they do not travel with you. Plan to use your own bounce and complaint monitoring, and consider whether the new provider's dashboard covers what you used to read daily. Spotlight's own page names SendGrid, Mailgun and SparkPost as connectable providers, which means the analytics can survive a move to those, if you buy it separately.
Warm-up and feedback loops
SocketLabs lists automated IP warm-up on all three plans and ISP feedback loops in its feature tables. If you ran a dedicated IP there, that reputation does not move, and a new dedicated IP needs its own ramp. Begin on the new provider's shared pool at 10 to 20 percent of traffic and increase weekly while watching bounce and complaint rates.
Webhook fan-out
List the endpoints receiving your current events (Core allows one, Pro five) and make sure the replacement plan allows the same number, or add a small relay of your own that receives one webhook and forwards events.
